Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, what meetings his Department has had with trades unions in the last 12 months.

Answered by Mark Francois - Shadow Minister (Defence)

The list below sets out what meetings the Department has held over the last 12 months with the trade union side.

Meetings were held with the three (Prospect, the FDA and Public and Commercial Services Union) recognised Departmental trade unions to discuss:

  • Pay and Performance Management
  • Equalities
  • The Cabinet Office Statement of Practice (COSOP) staff transfers
  • General HR policies updates/changes
  • Facility time and check-off
  • Whitley structure and general housekeeping/introductory
  • Office moves
  • Voluntary exits
  • Shared services
  • Human Resources Casework/reasonable adjustment
  • Health and Safety

All meetings with the three Departmental trade unions were with DCLG officials.

DCLG officials have also met with the Fire Officers Association, Retained Firefighters Union, Fire Brigades Union, Unison, Unite and the GMB to discuss various issues, including pensions schemes.

In my role as Fire Minister, I have had introductory meetings with the Retained Firefighters Union, the Fire Officers Association and the Fire Brigades Union.

The previous Fire Minister, the hon. Member for Portsmouth North (Penny Mordaunt), had introductory meetings and discussions on firefighters’ pensions with the Retained Firefighters Union, the Fire Officers Association and the Fire Brigades Union.
