Question to the Attorney General:

To ask the Attorney General, what progress the Crown Prosecution Service has made in reducing costs.

In 2010-11, the baseline year for the current Comprehensive Spending Review Period, the Crown Prosecution Service's (CPS) gross resource expenditure was £684,725,000.

The department is on target to meet its cost reduction plans through to 2015-16 and in 2013-14 the uncertified Annual Accounts report gross resource expenditure of £616,342,000, a reduction of £68,383,000, or 10%, in cash terms.
