To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, whether his Department permits its employees to join a credit union through payroll deductions; and if he will make a statement.

Answered by Kris Hopkins

The Northern Ireland Office currently does not have a policy to provide access to credit union services through payroll deductions. Staff can however make arrangements to contribute to a credit union via direct debit.

Wednesday 19th October 2016

Asked by: Gareth Thomas (Labour (Co-op) - Harrow West)

Question to the Northern Ireland Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, which agreed EU directives have not yet been transposed directly into UK law; and if he will make a statement.

Answered by Kris Hopkins

Until exit negotiations are concluded, the UK remains a full member of the European Union and all the rights and obligations of EU membership remain in force. During this period the Government will continue to negotiate, implement and apply EU legislation.

There are no EU directives related to the Department’s responsibilities awaiting transposition into UK law.

Question to the Northern Ireland Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, what the (a) highest and (b) lowest full-time equivalent salary paid by (i) her Department and (ii) its public bodies was in (A) 2010-11, (B) 2011-12, (C) 2012-13, (D) 2013-14 and (E) 2014-15; and if she will make a statement.

The Northern Ireland Office follows the Ministry of Justice terms and conditions, including pay scales for bands A-F. There are different pay scales for London and Belfast; the lowest pay bands for each region are shown below.

Pay for the Senior Civil Service across all departments is determined centrally by the Cabinet Office based on annual recommendations from the Review Body on Senior Salaries (SSRB) which is an advisory non-departmental public body, sponsored by Cabinet Office. Details of the recommendations for 2014/15 can be found at:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/senior-salaries-review-body-36th-report-2014.

The NIO’s Annual Reports giving details of the SCS salaries for the years 2010-2015, can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/search?q=nio+annual+report+and+accounts.
