Written Question
Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960: Wales
Tuesday 25th June 2019

Asked by: Hywel Williams (Plaid Cymru - Arfon)

Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what discussions he has had with the Welsh Government on the implications of the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960 for Wales.

Answered by Heather Wheeler

The Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960 (the 1960 Act) sets out the local authority site licensing regime for caravan sites in England, Wales and Scotland. Caravan site licensing under the 1960 Act is a devolved matter.

We made significant changes to the 1960 Act, in relation to England only, through the Mobile Homes Act 2013. We carried out a review of park homes legislation (England only) in 2017 and published the Government’s response on 22 October 2018.
