Withdrawal Agreement: Proposed Changes
"The Government’s proposal makes it clear that the UK will not be in a customs union, there will not be a close single market alignment and there will be even less protection for rights than the May deal offered. Given that, how do the Government expect the proposals to win …..."Janet Daby - View Speech

Question
to the Department for Exiting the European Union :
To ask the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, with reference to Directive 2004/37/EC, what steps he will take to maintain protections for workers against exposure to carcinogens or mutagens after the UK leaves the EU.
Answered by Robin Walker
The UK has made a commitment not to lower standards below current levels in workers’ rights and the environment. This includes health and safety in the workplace and the control of exposure to carcinogens and mutagens. The UK has a tradition of exceeding EU standards. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 has led to the United Kingdom having one of the best records on health and safety at work in the world. The Prime Minister has been clear that we will maintain these high standards as the country leaves the EU.

Question
to the Department for Exiting the European Union :
To ask the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, what steps his Department is taking to seek to ensure that UK citizens living in the EU can continue to do so in the event of the UK leaving the EU without a deal.
Answered by Suella Braverman
Citizens’ rights has been our first priority since the very beginning of this process.
While the Government is preparing for a range of scenarios, including the unlikely event that we reach March 2019 without agreeing a deal, the Prime Minister stated to EU citizens on 21 September “I want to be clear with you that even in the event of no deal your rights will be protected. You are our friends, our neighbours, our colleagues. We want you to stay.”
We are urging our EU counterparts to offer the same reassurance to UK nationals living in EU Member States. We also will ensure all relevant information is available to UK nationals overseas in the most transparent and accessible way.
