To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, which organisation (a) undertook investigations and (b) ensured mandatory compliance with Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights before the establishment of the Fatal Accident and Sudden Deaths (Scotland) Act 2016.

Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, what the Government's policy is on the UK remaining a party to the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.

The Charter is part of the EU Treaties and has the same status. It only applies when the UK is acting within the scope of EU law.
