In England, general rheumatology services, which support people with a range of conditions, including lupus, are locally commissioned by integrated care boards which are best placed to make decisions according to local need.

Specialised rheumatology services are commissioned nationally by NHS England. The service specification for specialised rheumatology services defines the standards of care expected from organisations funded by NHS England to provide specialised care.
