To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, what additional funding has been allocated to National Trading Standards to enforce relevant consumer legislation on secondary ticketing in (a) 2017-18, (b) 2018-19 and (c) 2019-20.

National Trading Standards have been tasked with investigating potential enforcement cases against sellers and secondary ticketing websites that do not comply with legislation from within their current and forthcoming annual budgets.

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy provides National Trading Standards with £13.25m per year for the coordination of regional and national Trading Standards activity in England and Wales. The National Trading Standards Board has allocated £300,000 towards investigation work on ticketing for this current financial year but has not yet allocated budgets for 2018-19 and 2019-20.

The Digital Economy Act 2017 amended S90 of the Consumer Rights Act on secondary ticketing. My Department will be consulting industry; stakeholder and consumer interests to help inform an appropriate update of this guidance.

The UK Government does not hold this information. The European Research Council (ERC) supports excellent science across all areas of research. It is therefore not possible to isolate the exact amount of funding the UK has received for all research projects that have relevance to cancer research. To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, what plans he has to update and publish online the Better Regulations Framework Manual.

In October 2016, the Public Accounts Committee in its Better Regulation Report (18th Report 2016-17) made recommendations in relation to the better regulation framework. The Government accepted these recommendations and has conducted a review of the efficiency of the better regulation system. The Government will publish a revised Better Regulation Framework Manual following final agreement of the package of efficiency changes.

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, how much funding was allocated to UK research projects on cancer under the EU's Seventh Framework Programme.

The UK Government does not hold this information. Many of the projects funded under the EU’s seventh framework programme were interdisciplinary and covered a number of themes, which will have included cancer research. It is therefore not possible to identify the projects and associated funding that relate specifically to cancer research.
