Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, how many projects his Department has put on hold due to the requirements of planning for the UK leaving the EU without a deal.

DfT currently has 160 staff working directly on EU Exit and is drawing in more resource. It is likely to be necessary to pause or defer a number of existing workstreams in order to release enough staff to support the departmental response to a no deal exit from the EU. These work areas are being identified through a review of all key activities and priorities.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what discussions he has had with the Chancellor of the Exchequer on ensuring that vehicle tax for company cars supports the Road to Zero Strategy.

Ministers hold regular discussions with their counterparts in HM Treasury on a range of transport issues. Policy on taxation is a matter for the Treasury.

To achieve the ambitions set out in the Road to Zero strategy, Government is investing nearly £1.5 billion between April 2015 and March 2021, with grants available for plug-in vehicles and schemes to support chargepoint infrastructure. This is one of the most comprehensive support packages in the world for zero emission vehicles.

The UK Channel Tunnel terminal and associated Eurotunnel shuttle services are policed by Kent Police and the costs are directly billed to Eurotunnel. The Department for Transport does not hold information on the cost of these services.
