Regulate Cabin Baggage Dimensions Across Airlines and Cap Baggage Fees

We want the Government to regulate and standardise cabin baggage dimensions across all airlines operating in the UK and introduce regulations to cap fees for baggage charges. We think this would prevent airlines from imposing inconsistent and exploitative policies on passengers.

Currently, we think some airlines implement inconsistent and overly restrictive cabin baggage policies that differ significantly from other carriers. We feel these policies are designed to catch passengers out and impose excessive fees, such as £75 for minor discrepancies (1cm width difference) in baggage size.

We think this issue disproportionately affects travellers on routes to economically disadvantaged regions. We think that for many, such fees represent a significant financial burden.
