Challenger Tanks: Depleted Uranium

Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, whether the current Challenger 3 business case includes integration of a US depleted uranium anti-armour round with the Rheinmetall high-pressure L55 barrel.

The new Challenger 3 (CR3) Main Battle Tank will mount the Rheinmetall R55A1 high pressure gun which, when used with advanced armour-defeating ammunition, will enable CR3 to defeat the latest armoured threats it may face. Several ammunition options are being considered; however, no decisions have yet been made.
