Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, if he will take steps to introduce new rules on product safety.

The Government is undertaking a review of the current product safety framework which is heavily based on the EU model. The Review seeks to reform the framework to ensure it is fit for the digital age and better meets the needs of UK consumers and businesses. A call for evidence was run last year and the Government response was published on 11 November 2021. We are currently finalising a consultation on proposals for reform.
