Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, whether his Department has taken recent steps to help ensure that there are interoperable prescribing systems between NHS providers and homecare medicines services providers.

The National Homecare Medicines Committee’s standardisation programme includes a project with the National Health Service, NHS Digital, Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration systems’ vendors and homecare providers to produce a specification for an electronic prescribing system. This will focus on the technical aspects of homecare requirements and will include interoperable prescribing systems.
