Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, If he will publish his Department's proposals to compensate war widows who lost their War Widow's Pension and did not benefit from changes on 31 March 1973 and 5 April 2005.

The War Widows Recognition Payment was announced in Parliament on 17 May 2023. A further announcement with details on taxation was made by the Financial Secretary to the Treasury on 19 September 2023. As at 19 January 2024, the number of War Widows Recognition Payments awarded was 100.
