Question to the Department for Education:
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what recent estimate her Department has made of the proportion of student loans which are claimed fraudulently.

The Department has not made a recent estimate of the proportion of student loans which are claimed fraudulently. However, the Student Loans Company (SLC) has made an estimate of the fraud rate in relation to student support payments (i.e payments of student loans and grants) for the financial year 2016-2017.
The SLC’s estimated fraud rate in relation to student support payments for the financial year 2016-2017 is 0.57%.
