Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what discussions his Department has had with the NHS since the publication of the Women’s Health Strategy for England in August 2022 on how to ensure that (a) healthcare professionals in primary care are well-informed about the menopause and (b) other healthcare professionals including (i) cardiologists and (ii) neurologists have a basic understanding of menopause.
NHS England’s Menopause Improvement Programme is developing education and training materials for healthcare professionals, including working with the Wellbeing of Women charity on tools to ensure more women are advised to seek support earlier in the menopause. The Royal College of General Practitioners has also developed a women’s health toolkit to support general practitioners, which includes resources on the menopause.
