Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what data is collected by the NHS on the identification and management of patients with (a) metabolic disorders and (b) generalised or partial lipodystrophy.
There are some of disease specific registries that can be used to identify metabolic disorders. These include diabetes. These registries can be used by the relevant commissioning body to inform development of policies and services.
Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust produces an Annual report for the Severe Insulin Resistance service (the specialist metabolic medicine centre for lipodystrophy). This collects data on patients referred and treated and followed up within the service.
