The annual number of interferon-gamma tests carried out in England in 2016 was 73,228, an increase from 18,384 in 2009.

Use of the interferon-gamma test has been further increased this year, based on specific criteria designed to resolve TB breakdowns in cattle herds in the High Risk Area of England. The expansion in the use of this test is expected to continue over the coming years.
