Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether he plans to bring forward proposals to increase the penalty for driving without insurance.

Road safety is a devolved matter in Northern Ireland, so I can reply only for Great Britain.

The Government takes road safety seriously and driving without insurance is unacceptable behaviour. We always keep the law under review but currently there are no plans to increase the penalty for driving without insurance.
