Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, what discussions his Department had with National Grid plc on reducing the time its takes for new electricity generating infrastructure to be connected the grid.
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy meets with National Grid on a regular basis on a range of issues concerning the operation of the electricity networks, including in relation to connecting to the network. Since 2010, grid access reforms have reduced transmission connection times for new generation projects by an average of five years. These reforms are now a standard part of the grid connection arrangements in Great Britain.
