Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:
To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, how much funding was allocated from the public purse for social fund funeral payments in 2016-17; and if he will make a statement.

Receipts and Payments relating to Funeral Expenses Payments are published in the Social Fund Account. The link to the Social Fund Account for 2016-17 is given below.
In 2016/17 across Great Britain £38,595,000 was paid out in Funeral Expenses Payments and repayments totalled £96,000.These figures are given on page 11 of the Social Fund Account 2016-17.
