Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, if he will place copies in the Library of the advice and guidance his Department provides to members of the armed forces on sperm and egg banking during service; and if he will make a statement.

A copy of Defence Instruction Notice 2016DIN01-052 titled 'Assisted Conception and Fertility Policy' has been placed in the Library of the House.

The Chain of Command provides regular reminders of the availability of Fertility Preservation (FP) to Service personnel. In addition, an awareness campaign promoting the benefits of FP has been undertaken including an intranet awareness campaign and magazine and newspaper articles for the Family Federations and each of the Services to ensure that maximum coverage was achieved.
