Question to the HM Treasury:
To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, how many cases were referred to the Jointly Managed Engagement Team in which universal credit claimants disputed earning figures received through the Real Time Information data feed in the most recent month for which data is available.
In September 2017, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC)’s Jointly Managed Engagement Team received 404 referrals from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) where the Universal Credit award was being disputed. HMRC estimate that approximately 72 of those referrals relate to the earnings figures received through Real Time Information (RTI). Of the volume of earnings information received through RTI and sent to DWP in that same month the referrals relating to the earnings figure represented less than 0.1%.
