Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what the priority tasks are which he has set for the Royal Navy.

This question was answered on 4th December 2017

Our priorities are to protect our people, project our global influence, promote our prosperity and maintain a strategic base and integrated global support network, and manage the Department of State.

In supporting these, the Royal Navy contributes to seven military tasks: defending the UK and its overseas territories; providing strategic intelligence; providing nuclear deterrence; supporting civil emergency organisations in times of crisis; defending our interests by projecting power strategically and through expeditionary interventions; providing a Defence contribution to UK influence, and providing security for stabilisation.
