Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, for what reason his Department does not monitor the length of time taken to process applications by the Probate Registry as a measure of that Registry's efficiency.

Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) does measure the length of time taken to process applications by the Probate Registry, from receipt of the application to issue of the application, as detailed in the answer to PQ 119252. HMCTS does not however, measure the length of time from issue of the application to the grant of probate.
