Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what assessment he has made of the potential merits of furnishing the aircraft carriers with vertical launch capabilities.
This question was answered on 16th June 2021
Experience has proven that vertical launch of aircraft, other than helicopters, is inefficient, and does not permit the aircraft to launch with sufficient payload or endurance to be of practical use.
