Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many asylum seekers classified as having special reception needs were detained in the UK by type of special reception need in 2017.

The department currently does not record the information on the criteria as set. However, anyone who is classed as a vulnerable adult, including pregnant females and minors, are not detained for asylum purposes.

The number of asylum applicants who were detained in the first three quarters of 2017 is available in table dt_01_q of the detention tables in the latest release of the ‘Immigration Statistics, July to September 2017’, available from the Home Office website at; https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/immigration-statistics-july-to-september-2017-data-tables
