Question to the Ministry of Justice:
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, whether a decision has been made on the future of Askham Grange Women's Prison.
This question was answered on 8th February 2018
The Government set out its ambition for a reformed prison estate in the November 2016 Prison Safety and Reform White Paper. Our reforms will close ageing and ineffective prisons and replace them with buildings fit for today’s demands.
As we previously announced in 2013, it remains our intention to close HM Prison and Young Offender Institution Askham Grange. No closure date has yet been set for this establishment.
