Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, with reference to his oral contribution on 23 January 2018, Official Report, column 119, for what reason he has refused to establish an end-to-end review of the whole John Worboys case; and if he will make a statement.

The Justice Secretary made a statement to Parliament on this matter on 19 January.

It is clear that this case raised issues with the parole process as a whole. That is why the Justice Secretary announced that the Ministry of Justice will be conducting a review considering the transparency of decisions by the Parole Board and how we properly engage victims in the process in all cases. The review will also include consideration of the law, policy, guidance and practice relating to challenges to Parole Board decision-making.
