The average number of cases under review per 1 FTE Case Review Manager at the Criminal Cases Review Commission in each year (1 April-31 March) since 2010 is set out in the table below:

Year

Average caseload

2010-11

12.5

2011-12

19.4

2012-13

23

2013-14

18.8

2014-15

24.6

2015-16

23.9

2016-17

22.9

April – Dec 2017

27

Calculations are based on total cases under review at 31 March each year.

The increase in last year has been due to the CCRC efforts in reducing the backlog queue of received applications, which has increased number of cases under review and a slight increase in the number of applications received in the last year.
