Developing Countries: Waste Management

Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, if he will take steps to include improving waste management systems in developing countries and reducing the amount of plastic entering the marine environment from those countries on the agenda at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London in April.

We are working closely with the Commonwealth Secretariat, member states, and Commonwealth partner organisations to develop an ambitious agenda for the summit. The Prime Minister has made clear that she intends to raise the issue of plastic pollution entering the world's oceans with other Heads of Government in London.
