Health Education England (HEE) is responsible for planning and commissioning postgraduate medical training in England. This includes working with hospitals and trusts, such as those in the South West, to support the wider workforce, including registrars, to help trusts meet their workforce needs.

HEE plans to review the geographical distribution of training programmes this year to address the role trainees play in service delivery across small or medium-sized hospitals.
