Immediately following the HMIP Inspection, Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service took urgent action to respond to the issues raised. A condition survey was completed in October 2017, in which every cell was surveyed. As a result, 15 of the resulting cells were identified as not having adequate working electricity and necessary action was taken.

A daily cell checking procedure has been introduced by the new Governor, and a full review of all cell accommodation at the prison is underway which will inform investment plans for refurbishment at the prison.
