Question to the Department for Education:
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how many schools have applied to convert to an academy in each month since January 2015.
Between January 2015 and February 2018, 2,999 schools have applied to become an academy. This information is released monthly as part of the Open Academies and Academy Projects awaiting approval document available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/open-academies-and-academy-projects-in-development.
Table 1 below provides the number of academy applications each month between January 2015 and February 2018.
