Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment she has made of the effectiveness of the policy to enable individuals who did not receive a criminal conviction to request the deletion of their custody images from the National Police Database.

The policy of enabling requests for deletion of custody images is intended to strike a balance between the rights of unconvicted individuals, and the costs which the police would incur if they were required to delete such images whether or not the person requested deletion. The government considers the policy achieves this objective.
