Question to the Department for Education:
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what recent assessment he has made of the adequacy of the remit of the Social Mobility Commission; and if he will make a statement.
This question was answered on 26th March 2018
The role and remit of the Social Mobility Commission is set out in legislation. We believe that the Commission under current legislation is able to act as an effective advocate for social mobility, and advise government, educators, employers and others on how best to tackle this important issue. There are no current plans to change the remit of the Commission.
