Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he will make it the policy of the Government to set a target date by which people aged over 80 in England will have been vaccinated against covid-19; and if he will ensure that vaccination of people in younger age groups does not commence until everyone over 80 who wishes to be vaccinated has been.

The National Health Service met its target of offering the COVID-19 vaccine to everyone in the top four priority cohorts, including people aged 70 years and over, on 14 February 2021. On 20 February, we set new targets for the acceleration of the programme to offer all adults over 50 years old a first dose by mid-April, and the rest of the adult population by the end of July.
