The NHS Counter Fraud Authority (NHSCFA) was established on 1 November 2017 and is a new special health authority with a remit to identify, investigate and prevent fraud, bribery and corruption across the National Health Service.

Information on the cases under investigation by category for NHS Protect and the NHSCFA is in the attached tables. Of the 44 cases taken over by NHSCFA from NHS Protect, 40 are still current.

Regarding the number of investigations into NHS trust directors, I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave on 17 April 2018 to Question 135151.
