Local authorities will need to determine what measures are essential to make each of their buildings fire safe. This will need to be done as part of a whole fire safety strategy for each individual building, tasking into account expert advice, any directions or advice from the local fire and rescue service, and other fire safety measures present.

41 local authorities have been in touch with the Department regarding fire safety works. Of these, 14 have identified the need to carry out essential fire safety works.
