Question to the Home Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what was the nature of the IT issue reported in 2023 which led to delays to Biometric Residence Permit applications.
This question was answered on 13th February 2023
The error was linked to the repeated capture of biometric information earlier in the process, but corrective action has now been taken.
As part of transforming the asylum system, we are focused on streamlining, simplifying and digitalising processes to ensure system issues do not occur in the future.
