Question to the Ministry of Justice:
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, what the conviction rate for rape involving (a) female and (b) male victims was in the latest year for which information is available.
The “Criminal justice statistics outcomes by offence tool” provides data on the number of defendants prosecuted and convicted in England and Wales in 2016. This is set out within the Criminal Justice System statistics publication available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/criminal-justice-system-statistics-quarterly-december-2016. In the case of offences of rape, data are broken down by the gender of the victim.
The conviction ratio is the number of convictions divided by the number of prosecutions.
