Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if he will make an assessment of the potential merits of bringing forward legislative proposals to require electric vehicles to be fitted with technology to limit vehicle speed in urban areas.

The Department for Transport is currently considering a proposed package of measures, which include requirements for Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA), which would aid the driver in maintaining the appropriate speed for the road environment by providing dedicated feedback through the digital observation of road signs and signals or the use of electronic map data.
