NHS Digital publishes Hospital and Community Health Services (HCHS) workforce statistics. These include staff working in hospital trusts and clinical commissioning groups (CCGs), but not staff employed by local authorities or non-National Health Service providers. The publication also includes nurses working in general practice settings. This data is sourced from the Electronic Staff Record, the NHS’ human resources and payroll system.
