Question to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities:

To ask the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, what assessment his Department has made of the potential merits of allowing local authorities to list Assets of Community Value for a period longer than five years.

Councils are responsible for the design and oversight of their Assets of Community Value scheme. The existing 5-year listing period is considered proportionate to ensure that the scheme balances the interests of the community with the rights of property owners.
