Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, pursuant to the Answer of 14 December 2017 to Question 902945, how much of the share of the £2 billion allocated to the social care sector in 2017-18 has been spent on attracting and retaining talented staff; and how many local authorities receiving that funding saw staff numbers (i) increase and (ii) decrease in 2017-18.

As part of the grant conditions for the £2 billion provided for social care at the Spring Budget 2017, local authorities were required to report on how the money would be spent. We anticipate publishing information on 2017-18 later this year; information for subsequent years is not yet available.
