Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, pursuant to his Answer of 10 December 2020 to Question 126115 on Public Service: Misconduct, what the Government's timescale is for publish its response to the Law Commission’s report into Misconduct in Public Office; and what plans his Department has to bring forward legislative proposals to introduce statutory offences for misconduct in public office.

The Law Commission published their report on Misconduct in Public Office in December last year. We are currently carefully considering the Law Commission’s report. The Government’s response, together with confirmation of any next steps will be issued within the timeframes outlined in the Joint Protocol between the Law Commission and the Government.
