Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how much public money was spent by his Department on the procurement of places in secure children’s homes in calendar year 2022; how many secure children’s home beds were available on average each month as a result of that spending; and how many of those beds were in use on average each month in calendar year 2022.

In 2022, the Ministry of Justice spent £26,079,233 to procure 107 beds in Secure Children’s Homes. The attached table shows a monthly breakdown of spend and available beds. Not all Secure Children’s Home beds are for the Ministry of Justice.
