Question to the Ministry of Justice:
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, what additional monitoring is conducted by his Department on prisons that have been placed in special measures; and what additional funding is allocated to such prisons that have been placed in special measures.

Progress of special measures prisons is monitored in line with the Prisons Directorate Performance and Assurance Framework, any review of progress is additionally used to determine the form of specialist support required to improve performance. Additional funding is provided for special measures prisons and is determined on a needs assessed basis.
