Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, whether he plans to set a target for building 300,000 homes a year as part of the National Planning Policy Framework.

The draft revised National Planning Policy Framework does not set a national home building target. It proposes the introduction of a standard method for assessing housing need that would be used locally as the starting point for each area’s plan-making. We intend to publish the final version of the revised Framework this summer.
