Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, with reference to the guidance entitled Skilled worker visa: shortage occupations published on 15 February 2022, whether the temporary arrangement to include (a) social care workers, (b) care assistants and (c) home care workers for a period of 12 months has been extended.

As set out in the letter to the Chair of the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) dated 24 August 2022, the Government does not intend to make any changes to the provision for care workers and there is no expiry date in the Immigration Rules. They will continue to be eligible unless the Government decides to remove them from the Shortage Occupation List in future.
